Ah,The Notebook. The movie that single-handedly gave a generation of people unrealistic expectations about their love lives. Because of Noah and Allie’s unbreakable bond, we fully expect our thắm thiết partners to swing from the vị trí cao nhất of Ferris wheels in order lớn get our attention. We assume date-night will involve rowboats và passionate kisses in the rain as opposed khổng lồ Netflix & Chill. & we secretly hope after a bad breakup, that our exes have been writing us love letters every day for a year (and we just don’t know it.)

Yet as romantic as the movie is, Ryan Gosling claims that his relationship with Rachel McAdams was “a hell of a lot more romantic” than the one shared on screen. Excuse us while we swoon.

‘The Notebook’ starring Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling is still discussed worldwide

The movie (based on the Nicholas Sparks novel) is still actively discussed as though it came out yesterday. The story centers around Allie và Noah, who are from opposite sides of the social spectrum. Allie comes from a stuck up family that cares more about status than happiness. Noah is a passionate poet who lives his life for himself as opposed lớn trying khổng lồ please others. Allie finds herself attracted to this quality, and Gosling’s character is able lớn teach her how to lớn let loose.

They tóm tắt a passionate relationship filled with slow nhảy in the middle of the street và reading poetry under shaded willow trees. Yet unfortunately, their relationship comes khổng lồ an end when the star-crossed lovers are forced to lớn split. Not because they want to, but because Allie’s parents think Noah is “trash.” (That’s the actual word Allie’s mom uses khổng lồ describe him, because apparently she was way ahead of her time with millennial slang.)

Yet thankfully, the two rekindle their relationship as adults & they rediscover their undying love for one another. Oh, and they also die in each other’s arms, so there’s that. *Insert ugly cry, here.*

Gosling và McAdams were in a thắm thiết relationship from 2005-2007. In an interview with GQ, Gosling admits that his love story with theMean Girlsactress was way more lãng mạn thanThe Notebook.

“People vày Rachel & me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie,” he says. “Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more lãng mạn than that.”

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling hated each other at first

Just like Allie và Noah, Gosling và McAdams started on the wrong foot. In fact, it is pretty well known that the actors couldn’t stand each other for the longest time. Things got so heated that Gosling wanted McAdams khổng lồ be replaced with a different actress. Just lượt thích the characters, their passionate disdain for one another morphed into a passionate romance.

In an interview with VH1, director Nick Cassavetes recalls the experience.

“They were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. & Ryan came to lớn me, và there are 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, ‘Nick come here.’ & he’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here & bring in another actress lớn read off camera with me?’ I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t vày it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.’”

Little did he know, he would over up “getting” one of the greatest loves of his life.
